I don’t generally need an excuse to spend my money on makeup and skincare, but when I’m trying to justify more spending I usually go for the “well, it’s my favourite and what if I run out?” argument. Well, it is my favourite, and what if I do run out? Right?
Taking a look at what I do have (sometimes multiple) backups of, though, is a good way to see what products I really, really like. I think the concept of a ‘holy grail’ is pretty garbage, but I do like the idea of finding a favourite product and just committing to it. Seeing as I just stocked up on some emergency backup supplies, I thought I’d show you my stash of certified favourites.
Laura Mercier Silk Creme foundation, $48 USD
I need to write about this properly, because I think it has surpassed NARS Sheer Glow as my favourite foundation. The whole redesign tripped me up for a while, but after some investigation I’ve discovered that the oil free version in the new packaging is meant to be identical to the old Silk Creme. I bought the backup when I discovered my old tube was needing more than a gentle squeeze to get the foundation out.
La Roche-Posay Toleriane Fluide, £15
Escentual have stopped shipping La Roche-Posay products to New Zealand, so I bought three bottles of this when I made my last order to justify using UK Youshop to get it to me. This is my favourite daytime moisturiser. It’s as simple as that.
Trilogy Very Gentle Cleansing Cream, $43.90 NZD
Despite my dalliances with foaming cleansers, I stick to a cream cleanser every day, and I’m never without this in my shower. It’s not cheap, so I try to buy several when Trilogy has an offer at Farmers (that reminds me that Trilogy is 25% off at Farmers at the moment!)
Do you keep backups of your favourite beauty products? What are they?
