A while back on Instagram I posted this picture of a bunch of cute tiny things and hinted that something fun was coming. That fun thing is me doing looks with a bunch of miniature products (fun for me, possibly interesting for you), reviewing them real quick then giving away all the products I use (new ones, of course!) I’ve been filling a box with deluxe samples for this purpose and now I’ve hoarded enough to make it work. Read on and find out at the end of the post how to win (hint: it’s by answering this survey).
The first look in this series is some simple, everyday makeup with a focus on the eyes. I used the six products pictured, along with my usual brow routine and a MAC lipstick (I’m not giving that away, sorry!)
Today we’re talking about Benefit Porefessional, Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturiser, Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion, Sephora eyeshadow, Eyeko Skinny liquid eyeliner, and Benefit Bad Gal lash mascara.
The Benefit Porefessional doesn’t need much introduction. It’s one of Youtube’s favourite primers, and it’s silicone-based so it feels silky and matte on the skin. It has a slight beige tint which helps to even out skintone if you’re pale. I don’t use this often, so it was nice to get it out again. On first impressions it fills my pores and smooths out the texture of my skin, but by the end of the day my face got a bit oily and the makeup on top kind of scooted around on it.
This giveaway includes two baby tubes of Porefessional, giving you a decent 10.5ml of product.
I wasn’t sure the Laura Mercier tinted moisturiser would match, but it turned out perfect. It has lightweight flawless coverage which is a huge contradiction unless your skin is already flawless. It’s sheer like I’d expect from a tinted moisturiser but, over the Porefessional primer, took care of all my redness. For some reason I got rid of my bigger tube of this but now I am starting to regret that, and starting to regret having to give my other little tube of this away! This is in the shade Nude but I think you get some good flexibility in colour matches with a TM. Bonus: this doesn’t oxidise at all, which is my biggest beef with BB creams and tinted moisturisers.
This giveaway includes one 15ml tube of Laura Mercier tinted moisturiser SPF 20 in Nude, which is half the size of a normal foundation but twice as cute!
I’m lazy with primers day-to-day but the Urban Decay Primer Potion is a classic that makes a real difference with eyeshadow staying power. It feels like a silky whipped creme (not whipped cream!) and it evens out the colour of your eyelids. This little blob is probably too much for both eyelids, so a whole tube will last forever.
This giveaway includes a travel size Urban Decay Primer Potion, which contains 6ml.
For some reason I didn’t take a photo of the Sephora eyeshadow single I used, or the Eyeko liquid liner, but you can see them up there ^. The shadow is a very, very glittery dark silver, perfect for a special occasion. It has a shimmer to it that’s almost green. These are the types of eyeshadows I don’t use that often, so I wouldn’t go out of my way to buy a palette containing super glam shadows like this. This single shadow works well on its own: I buffed the colour across eyelids and packed it on close to the lashline, before adding a simple line of liquid liner (lashline-line-liner). You can read more about the Eyeko liner from when Harriet reviewed it ages ago.
The giveaway contains a mini Sephora single eyeshadow and a full size Eyeko Skinny black eyeliner.
Last up, the Benefit Bad Gal lash mascara, which is They’re Real‘s lesser known sibling. It’s much more like a ‘normal’ mascara than They’re Real, including being much easier to remove. The brush is a traditional old-school bristly mascara brush but it’s huge, like Diorshow mascara wand huge, so it’s a good volumising mascara.
The giveaway includes a mini Bad Gal lash mascara, 4ml.
Here are my eyes! I really like how this turned out because it’s a bit smoky, but not so hectic that I looked weird sitting in a cafe in jeans on a Monday morning.
All these things could be yours! Plus the Eyeko liner I’m giving away is FULL SIZE, and I will throw in a bunch of other samples from my overflowing sample drawer. All you have to do is answer my super quick reader survey. Even if you don’t wanna win this stuff I’d really appreciate it if you could fill out the survey! It will help me make Hyacinth Girl a better place for you guys.
The giveaway will close on 7 December.
