Sometimes you just have to buy yourself really expensive things. This isn’t actually a recent purchase, which makes me feel better about it in the no-longer-feeling-the-sting-of-spending-$175-on-a-bottle-of-perfume kind of way. I bought myself a bottle of Diptyque’s L’Ombre Dans L’Eau in celebration when I got the job at Clinique; I no longer have the job at Clinique but I still love this fragrance, whatever that means. I think I decided that if I was going to buy a Diptyque fragrance for myself I was going to do it right, goddamn it, so I bought the 100ml.
It was only last year that I had my first ever cup of tea. What the fuck, right? Since then I’ve drank plenty, naturally, and I’ve discovered that my favourites are Earl Grey and green tea. There aren’t that many Earl Grey scented/infused/etc beauty products, but there’s no shortage of green tea beauty products out there. Here’s a few I’ve been having a hoon on.
Christmas is coming and I don’t like it. I mean, I like Christmas, I just don’t like how soon it is and how under-prepared and under-financed I am. Gift-giving is so stressful! I want to give meaningful gifts for people and not just useless crap.
I don’t know how many of these ‘guide’ posts I’ll be doing, but here is one about medium-sized gifts to begin with, anyway. Gift guides are hard because I don’t know who you all are buying for, so I have made lists of pros and cons for each of these ideas.
Here’s a look at what I’ve been loving lately. I’m not going to make these types of posts a weekly feature, but when I find a handful of products worth sharing that I haven’t talked about on the blog before, I’ll post them like this. This time they’re all relatively new to me, but my budget is going to be a little tight in the next month or so. Callum and I (I feel like I should adhere to blog logic and call him ‘Mr HG’, but that’s weird) just signed the lease for a new house, and the combined impact of coming up with bond, paying double rent for a couple of weeks where the lease overlaps, paying for movers, buying new furniture… these things naturally come first before my beauty obsession.
Marc Jacobs Daisy Eau So Fresh has been my daily fragrance for nearly two years, and now I’ve decanted some into this low-cost alternative to the Travalo so I can carry it around with me and top up my scent wherever I am. This makes the amount left in the bottle sadly low, and I’m thinking by Christmas it might be time to think about a new perfume.
