I bought a L’Oreal eyebrow pencil during the Farmers Beauty Week sales, and given my brow product purchases are usually towards the higher end of the price scale, I thought I’d give it a thorough review. The Anastasia Brow Wiz has been my ultimate favourite for some time now (it was in my very first post on this blog) and the Hourglass Arch Brow pencil made it into my 2014 makeup favourites, so the L’Oreal Le Sourcil pencil has some big shoes to fill. Because I’m stingy, I bought it with the intention of putting it in my kit, and the hope that it would be as good as my more expensive favourites. Here’s how it holds up.
I love a good eyebrow. I’ve been filling mine in in various ways since 2008, and they’re the first part of my face I really paid attention to cosmetically. Anything you can use on eyebrows, I’ve put on them: wooden pencils, clicky pencils, powder, gel, pomade… and I’d like to think they’ve been improving over that time.
I’ve been doing something with them lately which is, admittedly, very laborious, but will help you level up your brow game. This isn’t a quick-slap-em-on-and-out-the-door job (I’ve got the Hourglass Arch Brow for that), but it’s worth it for the natural-looking brow you end up with.
I’ve been going on about the Anastasia Beverly Hills Dipbrow Pomade since the start of the year (here’s my original post on it). When the product first launched there were only five shades in the range. Since then they’ve launched three new shades, and I’ve now got both Chocolate and Medium Brown. I thought it might be useful to compare these two next to each other for people who are on the fence about which shade to go with.
I got my eyebrows threaded for the first time ever a few weeks ago. Up until now I’ve always taken care of my own brow maintenance, pretty much exclusively by just tweezing when necessary and then otherwise leaving them alone. I don’t know what exactly spurred me to make an appointment to get them done; I think I’m getting more adventurous since I started blogging, plus, I wanted them to look nice for the Makeup Obsessives meetup.
My appointment at East Day Spa ended up having to be at the very end of a very busy day, and I somehow forgot to take a proper before photo. I think this is a good close up to give you an idea of how my eyebrows were looking a little scruffy. I made it all old-timey so you know that this was in the past. Later on in this post there is a post threading, no makeup vs post threading, full makeup before and after, too.
Benefit Cosmetics have launched a few hyped products lately but Gimme Brow is the one that caught my eye the most. As you should know by now I probably care about my brows most out of all the things on my face. Realistically, I didn’t need either of the products pictured as I’m still going strong with my latest of many Anastasia Brow Wiz pencils (although typing that has probably jinxed me and it will run out tomorrow). I couldn’t resist giving them a go, however.
