I have a thing for buying blush. For a long time my favourite everyday blush was NARS Deep Throat, and that should have been that. Why mess with perfection? Well, what if there is even better perfection out there?
Turns out there was. I picked up the MAC Lured to Love mineralize blush from their Divine Night collection and it has definitely taken the throne from Deep Throat. It is the perfect balance of peachy coral, much less pink than Deep Throat and even MAC Stereo Rose, another perennial blush favourite. Lured to Love is almost matte, but has a very subtle gold shift. I’m a big fan of blushes with a bit of shimmer in them, because I think they give your face a little more light, especially on days when you don’t want to go to town with a highlighter but still want a bit of glow.
The other excellent thing about Lured to Love is it’s almost impossible to overdo. I had a bit of a compulsion for collecting Tarte Amazonian Clay blushes until I realised how terrifyingly pigmented they are. One day I went to work and someone said ‘Oh, I like your rosy cheeks, Morgan!’ I think, like contour, everyday blush is one of those things you don’t want to be noticeable, but you definitely still want it to be there. I use the Real Techniques duo fibre contour brush to feather Lured to Love across my cheekbones and I’m good to go for the day, with no risk of anyone pointing out that I look flushed.
Lured to Love is out of stock on the MAC site, but I am pretty sure it’s still at counters in New Zealand if you want to hunt it down. What’s your everyday blush colour?
